Day 3 – A Lazy Day at Sheraton Cebu Mactan
On the third day of our stay at Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort(see on map), the sky was cloudy. During breakfast, seahorse danced around, and then visited each table to pitch the day’s pool-side aerobics: “Join us at 10 AM!” they said.
We spent the entire day doing everything a beach-resort trip should have: swimming, lounging, reading. In the late afternoon, the sky turned a soft shade of sunset, and from the sand, the resort buildings glowed gently.
That night, we returned to Buhi Bar, the same open-air resort restaurant we’d been to before. Many menu items were sold out, so we ordered a Margherita pizza, guacamole, and drinks — a beer and a cola. The total came to 1,469.24 PHP (about ¥4,034). The food was delicious, and the open-air vibe made it feel just right.
Day 4 – Sun, Seahorses & Water Aerobics
On our final day, the sun came out in full force! The pool shimmered under the strong light, and yes — the seahorses were back, promoting their water aerobics session. This wasn’t just for kids: the trainer led a serious, adult-friendly workout in the water.
We had requested a late checkout (we were told we could stay until 2 PM), but shortly after midday, our room key card stopped working and we couldn’t even get back into our room using the elevator. At the front desk, they calmly told us, “Your key automatically deactivates at 12 PM,” with a smile. I thought, “Well, you could’ve told us that earlier!”
They reactivated our card, we returned to the room, packed up, and checked out. But we weren’t ready to leave: we handed our bags to the resort’s cloak service, and spent time relaxing by the pool-side until around 5 PM. It was so hot that I ended up drinking a mango-passion yogurt shake and a chocolate banana shake to cool down.
Jollibee Discovery & Massage at LG Garden Walk
Around dusk, we took a Grab taxi (fare: 167.89 PHP, about ¥469) from the resort to LG Garden Walk (see on map), planning to have dinner there. But nearly every food outlet in that mall didn’t accept credit cards — and walking to the nearby Mactan Alfresco also ended in disappointment for the same reason. Apparently, cash still rules on Mactan Island.
Luckily, we found a Jollibee(see on map) nearby that did take credit cards. It was packed — we waited about 30 minutes before ordering. We tried their signature spaghetti, which was unusually sweet (but in a good way), plus fried chicken. Surprisingly, we both liked it. The mascot, though … a little eerie. There was a strange sense of calm madness to it. The total came to 320 PHP (about ¥894).
Since we still had hours until our late-night flight, we decided to kill time with a massage. Back at LG Garden Walk, neither of the two massage shops accepted credit cards. Even the place across the street said no cards — cash only. We used the ATM inside the mall, then went to LUGARI (see on map) for a 2-hour oil massage. For both of us, it cost 3,000 PHP (about ¥8,091), not including tip.
Farewell to Cebu — Plaza Premium Lounge at Mactan Airport
We took another Grab taxi from LG Garden Walk to Mactan–Cebu International Airport. The fare was 273.98 PHP (about ¥765). Once at Terminal 2, we used our Priority Pass to enter the Plaza Premium Lounge. The lounge was clean, spacious, and even served hot food — a perfect way to unwind before our flight.
